In March 2023 photo book Normaalitila (Raw View editions) was published . It’s a book of 12 photographers documenting how Finland survived the corona pandemic on an individual and societal level. The book is available for purchase from me /milkaalanen@gmail.com, Nide bookstore and Photo gallery Hippolyte. (€39.00)

In my photo series Let us dream, Anna meidän unelmoida (pages 272-301), I document four young people's gap year during the pandemic.
Due to the corona pandemic, plans for a relaxed cap year were canceled and life seemed take on pause. The borders of many European countries got closed, sports and hobby facilities, schools and libraries were closed, and visiting cafes, bars or restaurants was not recommended. Young people's life became mostly lounging in their own room, sleeping late into the afternoon, meeting in the old school yard. They were having endless Snapchat and WhatsApp messaging, guilt while meeting friends. They experienced feelings of togetherness, loneliness and sometimes depression, fear of the future and how their psyche would hold up.
